Ukrainian Lesson 3

Genitive Case (Родовий відмінок)

The genative case in Ukrainian has several uses such as to denote possession, to negate something (or say you don't have something), when you want to say "from something/somewhere", or in English when you use the word "of".

In Ukrainian, the genative case answers the following questions: кого/чого (of whom/of what) and куди/звiдки (where to/where from)?

Examples of the Genative Case

2. There is no time - нема́є часу

3. I don't have a car - у ме́не нема́є маши́ни
